The
ARL approach to Sustainability
LIM’s Sustainability: Doing Well by Doing Good Workshop
provides your organization with a focused, swift and
powerful process for identifying undetected savings or earnings
opportunities within a team or unit, that can contribute to the
bottom line while improving the environmental footprint of the
organization. In addition, using our Action Reflection
Learning™ approach known as Earning While Learning,
the participants, organized in small task forces, will develop
valuable competencies and tools. The best news is that you don’t
need a special budget for this workshop. Our experience is that
the savings generated by the proposed solutions more than cover
the costs involved.
Key aspects of this workshop include:
-
Generating objective assessment of the
cause and effect of sustainability opportunities.
-
Capturing the lessons learned during
the process of assessment.
-
Obtaining input from key stakeholders.
-
Evaluating strategic and operational
options.
-
Selection of the best strategy and a
detailed action plan.
This one-day workshop is facilitated by a
LIM Learning Coach, who helps team members work on the task
while learning key principles, tools and techniques for
addressing similar challenges in the future.
What are
the workshop outcomes?
By the end of the workshop, the team or
task force will have:
-
Identified some "low-hanging"
saving/earning opportunities.
-
Worked on selected opportunities and
established an action plan with clear next steps, and
assigned responsibilities with a time line.
-
Demonstrated understanding and use of
the Power Planning Process, a creative
problem-solving tool.
-
Discovered more efficient ways of
utilizing time that enhances innovation and ensures full
engagement of all key stakeholders.
-
Learned new processes for effective
team work.
-
Explored the potential of a new
perspective that combines results on the triple bottom line:
people, profits and Planet.
How
is the workshop designed?
The design of the Sustainability: Doing Well by Doing Good
workshop focuses on the following elements:
-
A summary of potential saving / earning
opportunities collected through a survey of participants
prior to the workshop.
-
Each workshop is co-designed by the
client and LIM to ensure a healthy mixture of knowledge,
expertise and objectivity that will result in a solution
based upon facts, innovative thinking (and solid ownership).
-
Participants work in either intact
teams or in a task force assembled for this purpose.
-
LIM Coaches introduce the Power
Planning Process and other practical concepts, tools
and techniques that will help participants work on the
challenge.
-
Participants learn how to listen and
respond to differing viewpoints while developing a mindset
that sees challenges and problems as the inspiration for
innovation.
-
Participants establish clear next steps
— who will do what by when.
-
Participants evaluate the process and
results of the workshop so that they can apply the
principles, tools and techniques to other work situations.
Who will benefit?
-
Members of the team
-
Both internal and external customers
-
The organization or unit affected
-
The environment and/or the community.
